It seems an odd thing to blog about a walk to the supermarket, I know. Shopping for groceries is something that I often view as a chore more than anything, to be fitted around more important things, or as a necessity, often crammed in on the way home from work or my swim at the gym on the weekend.
However, I have been wanting to walk to my supermarket to see how long it would take me for some time. I knew it would be a lovely walk. Today seemed the perfect opportunity - I felt cooped up inside, I wanted a walk, I needed to feel the sun on my face as it had finally made an appearance ... and, more prosaically, I needed some food for dinner that night.
And this is why I knew it would be a lovely walk.......
I walked over the commons began at the end of my street, one of which had some football posts were a father and sun were enjoying their kick around. Then it was through kissing gates, to a slightly wooded area, and through a housing area that included refurbished Barracks that had housed foot guard regiments from the 19th Century until just 20 years ago.
The sun was shining, the air was cool but not unpleasantly so, and I was even able to wear my sunglasses. Thankfully, Spring is finally here.
